spurs is a crap team , is simple as that, the last time they won the league was in 1981 and before that just in 1961 and until now they never manage to finish the league above arsenal + this season arsenal have the most inconsistent squad ever and yet spurs can't overtake them, what would villa go to a such crap team like spurs? - alte88, london, 10/05/2013 17:43 You really know your stuff don't you mate ? I was not aware of Spurs winning the league in 1981. If you ate going to spout rubbish at least get your facts straight first. How many years since Arsenal won a trophy ? sure you know as you obviously like stats.

And predictably a City fan has to put his two cents in. Well at least we know David Villa isn't going to Manchester - unless Barcelona decide to sell him for 25 million plus. Why get Villa for 7 when you can have bargains like Scott Sinclair for 8 mill? With the money your club has spent you should be planning a mission to Mars... not coming second in the league and getting humiliated in the CL. Samir Nasri can be your pilot - He loves flying to the furthest reaches of outer space for silly money !

How does Tottenham being prepared to offer £7m for a player Barcelona value at £12m equate to "Spurs set to beat Arsenal in race to sign out-of-favour Barca star Villa"?

Seriously, MattyB.."someone Arsenal were interested in first"...we were linked with Villa over 2 years ago. And as for nothing new...Petit, Arshavin, Modric, Vertonghen, Baptista, Llorente, Begovic.....just a few of many many spurs targets/signings who you expressed interest in after we made our first move. to be honest, we need more attacking options and Arsenal need more consistent reliable attackers, so either club would do well to get him.

Why go to spuds and Europa cup when he can go to Arsenal and champions league?

@Do One - another gem from the the rapier wit that brought us "deluded Goners". Is this because in breaking news Tottensham have turned their attention from David Villa to a more realistic target...no scrap that Jermaine Jenas isn't coming back.

Is this how Barca pay back Arsenal? No class!!

Your comments: Hahahaha Well if nothing comes of this the fact that it has really, REALLY p*55ed of the lil plastic Gooners on here has made it all worth while. "Waaaah! We saw him first" "Waaaah! Spurs are always nicking our targets" "Waaah! MIss Tell them to stop it.It's making us all jealous and scared!" If Spurs are in no way a threat to them, then why are the Woolwich queing up, so desperate to state the same thing over and over on any Spurs story that appears on here?
